‘Broken before God’ – Moving What You Can’t,

Prayer Crane, part 2

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

1. What has brought you the greatest joy in recent years, and what has been one of your more difficult seasons? How easy or difficult do you find it to bring both your joys and your struggles to God?

2. Read 1 Samuel 1:1-20 and 1 Samuel 2:1-10. What differences do you notice between Hannah’s prayers in these two passages? What do these prayers reveal about her character and her relationship with God?

3. Hannah found peace before she received her answer (1 Samuel 1:18). What do you think made that possible? Have you ever experienced peace in the middle of an unresolved situation? What might it look like to trust God when the outcome is still uncertain?

4. 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to bring our worries to God. How might prayer change the way we carry our burdens, even when our circumstances don’t change straight away?

5. What is one thing you need to place in God’s hands this week? Is there a person, concern or outcome you have been holding tightly that you could begin to surrender to Him?
