Discussion Questions for 1 June 2024 “Extra Virgin Christianity”
These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.
- What part of the sermon was strongest for you (whether you liked it or disagreed with it) and why?
- Do you have a place you go to in order to talk to God / have space to reflect? Where is it or where would you like it to be? What keeps you from going there?
- What does the symbolism of Gethsemane as an olive press mean to you personally? How does understanding this symbolism enhance your appreciation of Jesus’ sacrifice?
- Read Hebrews 12:1-4. How can we apply the concept of “extra virgin Christianity” – a faith in Jesus’ sacrifice – to help us overcome our own trials and temptations?
- “Help will come when we ask for it” – does this help always come? How do we keep faith when help doesn’t come the way we expect in the timeline we want?
- How are you feeling “pressed” this week? What pressures / challenges are you facing? Pray together in your group to close.
Thank you for coming today and contributing to our discussion.
