These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.

  1. Reflect on the concept of God choosing to become a baby. How does it impact your understanding of His character? Of his desire for an intimate relationship with us?
  1. Reflect on the idea of Jesus coming as a baby to signal a new generation. How does His birth represent a spiritual rebirth for individuals and humanity as a whole? What are the values of this new generation and how are they different?
  1. How might the ordinary, seemingly unremarkable aspects of Jesus’ early life (first 30 years) offer lessons for our own periods of waiting and preparation? How can we recognise God’s love and purpose in the seemingly mundane aspects of our lives?
  1. How can we cultivate a mindset that that actively seeks God in places and circumstances that may not align with our preconceived notions?
  1. The psalmist in Psalm 139 acknowledges the omnipresence of God. How does this awareness of God’s constant presence impact your daily life and your understanding of God’s involvement in both the light and dark moments?
  1. In what practical ways can we cultivate a sense of God’s nearness in our lives, especially during the Christmas season?

Thank you for coming today and contributing to our discussion.
