Discussion Questions for “The Point of Christianity”

  1. Do you agree that the point of Christianity is friendship with Jesus?
  2. In what ways is the concept of friendship with Jesus different from other common ideas about what it means to be a Christian?
  3. How does redefining Christianity as friendship with Jesus impact our understanding of how we do worship, outreach, community?  Of our definition of what it means to BE church? 
  4. How does personal prayer time impact our friendship with Jesus? What benefits, if any, have you experienced from setting aside time for personal prayer and reflection? 
  5. What challenges have you faced in establishing and maintaining a regular prayer routine What strategies have you found effective for staying focused and engaged during personal prayer time?
  6. To what extent do cultural or social factors influence personal prayer practices?  Our understanding of friendship with Jesus?
