Discussion questions 26 April 2025

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

  1. How would your life be different if you didn’t believe that Jesus lives? How does believing that God loves you impact your sense of identity, purpose, and the way you relate to others?
  2. Read Psalm 34:18 [click to read online]. When you’re discouraged or feeling spiritually empty, what do you find helps you to remember or experience God’s nearness? Are there any specific practices, people or stories that remind you that God is with you and that bring you comfort?
  3. When the disciples encountered Jesus as they walked the road to Emmaus, they didn’t recognise it was Jesus walking alongside them until much later. Have you ever gone through a time when you couldn’t clearly see or feel Jesus? In these moments, how has the support or presence of other people — friends, church, family — helped reveal God’s love or remind you He was still with you?
  4. John 11:35 is one of the shortest but most powerful verses in the Bible: “Jesus wept.” Knowing that even Jesus grieved with those He loved, how does it comfort you to know that God is present with us in our sorrow, not just beyond it? What does it mean to you to know that Jesus has personal experience of pain, loss and grief?
  5. Read Romans 8:11 [click to read online]. The resurrection not only give us hope for the future, it also gives us hope for right now. What might it look like to claim this promise when facing a challenge or area of uncertainty in your life?
  6. What does it mean to you to ‘abide’ with Jesus? What’s one way you can intentionally invite Jesus to walk alongside you this week — whether in your work, relationships, or personal spiritual life?
