Discussion questions 7 February 2026

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

1. Thinking back to your childhood, what do you remember feeling or doing when a storm rolled in (e.g. excited/scared/curious)? How do you tend to respond to “storms” or uncertainty in your life now as an adult?

2. James 1:2–4 [click to read online] says, “Consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” What do you find challenging or encouraging about this perspective, especially for someone newer to faith?

3. The story of Joseph in the book of Genesis shows someone who endures betrayal, injustice and long seasons of uncertainty before seeing God’s purpose unfold. What stands out to you about how Joseph grows through his “storms”?

4. Psalm 66:10–12 [click to read online] says, “For you, God, tested us; you refined us like silver… we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.” How does the image of being ‘refined’ or shaped help you to think about growth during difficult seasons?

5. Reflecting on a current “storm” or upcoming challenge in your life, what’s something you could do this week to put your trust in God, or support someone else who is facing change and uncertainty?
