Discussion questions 21 June 2025

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

1. Our minds are a bit like gardens — they grow what we plant in them. What kinds of thoughts, influences or habits have you been ‘planting’ recently? What would you like to see more of in your inner life, or what might need replanting?

2. How do you define contentment — is it a mindset, a discipline, or a gift? Has your understanding of contentment changed over time?

3. Paul’s plans were interrupted by the Holy Spirit (Acts 16:6–7). How do you respond when your own plans fall apart or doors close unexpectedly?

4. What does it look like in your daily life to listen to the Holy Spirit? How do you discern His guidance from your own thoughts or emotions?

5. Are you open to God working in ways that are different from what you expected? What helps or hinders that kind of flexibility?

6. Philippians 4:6–7 encourages us not to be anxious, but to bring everything to God in prayer. How can prayer and gratitude shape our mental and emotional wellbeing?

7. Despite all Paul suffered (2 Corinthians 11:25–29), he still poured himself out for others. What do you think motivated him? What might shift in our lives if we made more space for others, even in our own struggles?
