‘Kneeling for Restoration’ – Moving What You Can’t,
Prayer Crane, part 3
These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.
1. Have you ever had to admit to something you’ve done wrong, whether it was a joke that went too far, a lie, or a mistake you made? What was the outcome?
2. Read Daniel 9:4–19. Daniel repeatedly uses the word “we” as he confesses the sins of his people, even though the passage doesn’t suggest that David personally committed all these wrongs. What does this reveal about David’s heart for his community?
3. Why do you think confession can be so difficult even when we know God offers grace and forgiveness? What fears, assumptions or past experiences might hold us back from being honest with God or others?
4. Daniel’s prayer draws deeply on Scripture, reflecting God’s character, promises and faithfulness. How might praying with Scripture shape the way we approach God, especially when we feel guilty, discouraged or in need of restoration?
5. As you reflect on Daniel’s prayer and the theme of “Kneeling for restoration,” what is one practical step you could take this week to make space for honest prayer, seek forgiveness or repair a relationship?
