Let it Rain: Prayer for Revival
These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.
1. Have you ever gone through a season where you felt emotionally or mentally drained, like you were running on empty? What helped you get through that time or begin to feel renewed again?
2. Elijah rebuilt the altar before he prayed. What might ‘rebuilding the altar’ look like in your own life today?
3. In today’s world, what are some idols or distractions—whether internal or external—that can pull our hearts away from God?
4. Read and reflect on Isaiah 44:3 [click to read online]. What does this promise tell us about the power of God’s renewal?
5. In the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal, we see a contrast between performance and simple, faith-filled prayer. What’s the difference between performing for God and praying with humility? Why do you think we sometimes slip into ‘performance mode’?
6. Elijah prayed seven times before the rain came. What does that persistence teach us about how we should approach prayer, especially when answers seem delayed?
7. What’s one intentional step you can take this week to ‘rebuild the altar’ in your life: something small but meaningful to help you draw nearer to God?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being involved in today’s discussion!
