‘Faith or profit: What are we building?’

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

1. If your life had a ‘screen time report’ to report where your attention and energy go each week, what patterns might it show? How does – or doesn’t – this align with your faith and your values?

2. Matthew 6:24 says, “You cannot serve both God and money,” [click to read online]. How do you personally wrestle with this tension? Is this something you are consciously aware of when it comes to your daily choices?

3. Naboth stood firm in protecting his inheritance, even at great cost. What can this teach us about holding on to what is sacred in a culture that often encourages compromise?

4. James 5:1–6 [click to read online] speaks strongly against injustice and exploitation, and we also heard the story of Ahab and Jezebel. In today’s world, where do you see examples of power being abused?

5. Naboth treasured his vineyard as a sacred inheritance from God. In your own sphere of influence — work, home, church or community — how can you build your own ‘vineyard’  that honours God and serves others?
