Discussion Questions 2 August 2025
These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.
- Can you think of a time when you were really good at something but struggled to stay humble? How did you navigate that experience?
- Why do you think God wanted Samson to become vulnerable after victory? How do you respond to times when you feel weak or dependent on others? What have those moments taught you?
- Read Judges 16:20 — “But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him.” How can we stay spiritually aware and dependent on God, even when life is going well? What are some warning signs that we might be relying more on ourselves than on God?
- What are some subtle ways success can distort our spiritual life? Can you think of a time—whether in the Bible, history, or your own life—when success caused someone to forget God? What happened, and what can we learn from it?
- Is there an area in your life where God may be calling you to “cut your hair”—to let go of pride, control, or self-reliance? What might that look like this week?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being involved in today’s discussion!
