Battle Gear

We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world…Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armour so you will be able to resist the enemy. – Ephesians 6:12-13
Every morning you roll out of bed and head to the bathroom. Yes, there it is, the mirror with your disheveled reflection in it. Already you know the drill: Brush teeth, take a shower, find an outfit, fix your hair, and brace yourself for the day’s tasks you can already hear calling your name.
One of those voices you hear, though – the still, small, quiet one- is God’s Spirit vying for your attention. It seems that in the tyranny of the urgent or the monotony of the seemingly mundane, you’ve forgotten the true state of affairs. When you rise to face another day, you’re stepping back into a spiritual battle raging around you. God warns you that the unseen forces of evil bent on your destruction stand ready to attack and drag you to the ground. Without proper protection, your mind and spirit won’t stand a chance.
The commander of heaven’s armies, Jesus Himself, has given you the spiritual armour you need to win the day’s battle. The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit are each designed to not only protect you, but empower you to take down enemy strongholds by God’s Spirit. Each piece is a part of your relationship with Jesus who is your defender and Savior. Take time today to strengthen yourself in Him. Clothe yourself with His presence, and take on each day with a new determination – victory and glory in Christ!
