Discussion Questions for “Dealing with Burnout”

These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.

  1. What do you do to wind down?  To relax?
  2. What does it mean to make God’s work your work?  What might that look like in your context?
  3. What was the most restful Sabbath you’ve ever experienced?  Or, if you’ve never experienced a Sabbath, when was a time you felt refreshed / re-energised?
  4. The Education quote says: “These workers can never attain the highest success until they learn the secret of strength. They must give themselves time to think, to pray, to wait upon God for a renewal of physical, mental, and spiritual power. They need the uplifting influence of His Spirit. Receiving this, they will be quickened by fresh life.”  Do you find waiting on God difficult?   Why or why not?
  5. Elijah received from God: sleep, food, assurance.  God wasn’t in the storm or fire but in a still, small whisper.  How have you experienced God in the “ordinary” or unexpected?

Thank you for coming today and contributing to our discussion.
