Discussion questions 10 May 2025

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

1. Mother’s Day reminds us of the power of nurturing love—whether from our own mum or anyone who’s cared for us in a mother-like way. How might this experience of a steady, compassionate presence in your life reflect or help you to understand aspects of God’s love and constancy?

2. Just as Jesus explained scripture to the disciples, God still speaks to us today through the Bible. Reflect on Psalm 119:105 [click to read online]. Is there a Bible passage or story that has brought light or clarity during a confusing or uncertain time in your life?

3. Revelation 3:20 says: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” What does it look like for you personally to ‘open the door’ to Jesus in your life? And what does it mean to keep that door open in your daily routines and relationships? Are there areas of your life where He might still be waiting for an invitation?

4. What comes to mind when you think of being a witness? When God does something meaningful in your life, how easy or difficult is it for you to share your story with others?

5. Read Micah 6:8 [click to read online]. What does “acting justly” look like in your life today? Are there issues or injustices that weigh on your heart—things you sense God deeply cares about too? How do you feel personally called to respond to these? What are some barriers that might hold us back from taking action, and how might we move past them?

6. If someone asks you why your faith matters to you, what’s one thing you’d feel ready to share? Read and reflect on 1 Peter 3:15 [click to read online]. What helps you to speak about your faith with honesty and confidence, especially in a professional or secular setting?

7. After today’s discussion, is there one practical step you feel prompted to take — whether it’s setting aside more time to read the Bible, reaching out to someone in need, or sharing your story with a friend? What might it look like to say, ‘Stay with us, Jesus,’ in your everyday life this week?
