Discussion Questions – 13 April 2024

Discussion questions for “Prayer”.

These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.

1. What are some of the factors that help with effective communication? Do any of these principles apply to prayer?

2. Jesus encourages us to bring our prayers before God directly. What does this indicate about the relationship God wants to have with each of us?

3. In the Bible we can read about many examples of prayers by different people. What’s one story you can think of, and what does that story teach us about what happens when we pray?

4. In Mark 11:24, Jesus says, ‘Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours‘. In your experience, does belief always equate to receiving? How do you interpret the meaning of Jesus’ words in this particular passage?

5. What are some strategies you have found helpful for prayer – e.g. journal, time in nature, prayer partners? Do you have a prayer routine that’s the same each day/week or do you tend to be more spontaneous in how you pray?

6. What is one thing you can do this week that will help reinvigorate your prayer life?
