Discussion questions for “Gospel Fluency”

These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.

1. Have you ever had to learn another language? (could be a spoken language, or even work-related acronyms and phrases you were unfamiliar with). What was that experience like? What helped you become better at it?

2. In today’s sermon, Fraser explained the idea of a ‘gospel sharing continuum’: on one side is not saying anything, and the on the other is being very outspoken. Where would you position yourself on this line?
What might be some of the benefits and risks of being on either end?

3. Read 1 Corinthians 2:1-5. What advice does Paul have about sharing the gospel? Does any part of this passage give you comfort or courage when it comes to sharing Jesus; if so please share which part and why?

4. Read Colossians 4:5-6. How would you summarise Paul’s instructions on interacting with others? Who might be some of the ‘outsiders’ in your life? Think of one of these people and consider what truth of the gospel may have the most impact for them at the moment.

5. What is something you can do this week to practice speaking the gospel to another Christian? Be as specific as you can be.
