‘Alive in Christ: Unashamed, Part 3’

A study exploring the book of Romans.

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

1. When you hear the word “freedom,” what comes to mind? How do you think our culture’s view of freedom compares with the freedom Jesus offers?

2. Have you ever tried to break a bad habit or change something about yourself? What helped you make progress, and what made it difficult?

3. In Romans 6, Paul teaches that we have been set free from sin. What do you think true freedom in Christ looks like? How is it different from simply being able to do whatever we want?

4. Paul says we are no longer slaves to sin but have become slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:15–23). What might this look like in our everyday lives—in the way we work, make decisions, build relationships, or respond to temptation?

5. In Romans 7, Paul describes the struggle of wanting to do what is right but still battling with sin. Have you ever experienced that same tension? How does the gospel give us hope and encouragement when we feel like we’re falling short?
