Soul Quencher series – Part 3 – ‘The Gateway’
These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.
1. What are some examples of “doors” in today’s world that people might walk through in search of belonging or fulfillment? How might these connect with people’s ideas of identity and self-worth?
2. How does the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) challenge your understanding of what an abundant life really looks like?
3. What do you think Jesus means by offering “life to the full”? How does that differ from common ideas of success or fulfillment?
4. When it comes to surrendering control of your life to God, how do you discern the difference between genuine trust in God and simply avoiding responsibility or hard decisions? What might a concrete next step of trust in God look like this week?
5. Read and reflect on John 10:9 [click to read online]. What would it require for us as a community to embody that kind of open, grace-filled “gateway”? What might we need to overcome to make that a reality?
