Discussion Questions 28 Dec 2024

These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed below.

  1. What was most memorable for you from the sermon (whether you liked or disliked it)?
  2. What are some “artificial lights” in our lives that may distract us from seeing God’s light?
  3. How does John 1:5 compare to Genesis 1:3, where God says, “Let there be light” and Matthew 5:14-16, where Jesus calls us the light of the world. What connections can you see?
  4. What does it mean for us to be “jars of clay” carrying God’s light (2 Corinthians 4:7)? How does this image challenge or encourage you?
  5. Why do you think God chooses to work through flawed individuals rather than more obvious displays of power or light?
  6. How do you respond to the idea that God’s light is never overcome, even in the darkest situations?
  7. What does it mean to “let your light shine” before others? How can we shine this light this week?

Thank you for coming today and contributing to our discussion!
