Discussion Questions 31 August 2024

These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed below.

  1. What was most memorable for you from the sermon (whether you liked or disliked it)?
  2. How much do you care about what others think of you? How do you respond to rejection or criticism? Why do you think you respond this way?
  3. Read Romans 8:14-17. How does believing we are children of God change the way we view ourselves and others? Our choices and attitudes? Our response to circumstances?
  4. How did Jesus have such confidence in His identity despite constant criticism and doubt from others? What can we learn from Jesus’ response to rejection? (c.f. 1 Peter 2:23; Mark 6:1-6)
  5. Is it possible to be unaffected by the validation of others, and is it wrong to be influenced by it? How can we stay true to our identity while still building meaningful connections with people?

Thank you for coming today and contributing to our discussion.
