Discussion questions 5 July 2025

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

1. How are you feeling at this halfway point of 2025? What’s something that’s brought you strength or challenged you this year?

2. Have you ever felt burnout after an emotional “high” such as a significant life event, an incredible experience, or a spiritual breakthrough? Why do you think exhaustion can follow such positive experiences?

3. In 1 Kings 19:7 [click to read online], the angel tells Elijah, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” What might God be saying to you today about rest or looking after yourself?

4. What can those 40-day journeys (like Elijah, Moses, or Jesus) teach us about the importance of stepping back to reflect or reset?

5. Read 1 Kings 19:11-12 [click to read online]. In a noisy and fast-paced world, where do you find quiet moments to reflect? How do you recognise gentle nudges or inner guidance, rather than big dramatic signs?

6. Elijah believed he was the only one left until God revealed 7,000 others. Why do we sometimes feel alone, even when we’re not?

7. What might trusting God one day at a time look like for you right now?
