Discussion Questions 8 Feb 2025

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.

  1. What was most memorable for you from the sermon (whether you liked or disliked it)?
  2. Do you think grace/salvation as a doctrine is healthy or unhealthy for the church? Why or why not?
  3. Cheap Grace vs. True Discipleship: Bonhoeffer describes “cheap grace” as grace without discipleship, repentance, or a cross. How do you understand the difference between cheap grace and the true cost of discipleship?
  4. Grace as an Action: How can we shift from viewing grace as something we receive passively, to recognizing it as a call to action and discipleship? How does this perspective change how we live out our faith?
  5. The Cost of Following Jesus: Reflecting on Peter’s decision to follow Jesus, what do you think it cost him to leave his profession and follow Jesus? What might it cost you to truly follow Jesus in your current life?
  6. Repetition of Grace: In John 21, Jesus repeats the miracle of the fish to restore Peter after his denial. How does the repetition of grace in Peter’s life mirror your own experiences of forgiveness? How does the concept of repeated grace help you persevere in your discipleship journey, especially after moments of failure or doubt?
  7. What is one thing you want to take with you from today’s sermon?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being involved in today’s discussion!
