Discussion Questions for 25 Nov 2023
These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.
- What did you learn today about the meaning of “holy”? How does its biblical meaning differ from our cultural meaning?
-
How is God’s holiness both good and dangerous at the same time? How does the concept of God’s holiness impact you?
- The first two things called “holy” in the Bible are the Sabbath (Genesis 2:3) and the ground where Moses sees the burning bush (Exodus 3:1-6). In both cases, the holiness is honoured by treating them with special care, not doing activities on them that are done elsewhere. How does our understanding of “holiness” help us understand how to honour God’s holy day, space, time?
- The New Testament says that each follower of Jesus becomes a mini-temple of God. How do we “carry” God’s holiness? What does this look like every day?
