Discussion questions 15 August 2026
‘He Is Able: Unashamed series, Part 8’

Paul calls us to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, renewed daily rather than conformed to the world, marked by genuine love and gifts used for others. What could change if you saw today as an act of worship rather than routine?
These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.
1. When have you experienced someone choosing to prioritise your wellbeing over their own preferences or rights? What did that communicate to you about their character or love?
2. Romans 14:15 says, “If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love.” What does it look like to let love—not simply “what I’m allowed to do”—guide our choices?
3. Paul says in Romans 15:1-2, “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbours for their good, to build them up.” What might this look like in our workplaces, friendships, families or church community?
4. Read Romans 15:5–7. What is the difference between accepting someone and agreeing with someone? How might that distinction help us become a community where people feel loved rather than judged?
5. As you think about the people you interact with this week, where might God be inviting you to lay down a preference, right, opinion or freedom for the sake of someone else? What is one tangible step you could take?
