Discussion Questions for “The 11th Commandment”
These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.
- What was new, interesting or challenging from today’s sermon?
- Are there any examples of forgiveness (in the Bible or personal life/society) that inspire you? How do those examples challenge or encourage you in your own journey of forgiveness?
- Are we obliged to forgive if there is no apology? Or if the apology does not seem genuine? What conditions, if any, are there to forgiveness?
- How can we reconcile the call to forgive with the need for healthy boundaries and self-protection? What does the Bible teach about setting boundaries while cultivating a forgiving heart?
- Are forgiveness and justice incompatible concepts?
During wrap-up, we will take some time to pray – reflect silently, is there anyone God is putting on your heart to forgive?
Thank you for coming today and contributing to our discussion.
