Discussion Questions for “The 11th Commandment”

These questions are here to stimulate dialogue about today’s topic – feel free to skip around or discuss items not listed here.

  1. What was new, interesting or challenging from today’s sermon?
  2. Are there any examples of forgiveness (in the Bible or personal life/society) that inspire you? How do those examples challenge or encourage you in your own journey of forgiveness?
  3. Are we obliged to forgive if there is no apology? Or if the apology does not seem genuine? What conditions, if any, are there to forgiveness?
  4. How can we reconcile the call to forgive with the need for healthy boundaries and self-protection? What does the Bible teach about setting boundaries while cultivating a forgiving heart?
  5. Are forgiveness and justice incompatible concepts?

During wrap-up, we will take some time to pray – reflect silently, is there anyone God is putting on your heart to forgive?

Thank you for coming today and contributing to our discussion.
