Discussion questions 24 January 2026

These questions are a starting point to help spark discussion that digs deeper into today’s topic – feel free to adapt or add additional questions of your own.
1. Jesus says: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find” (Matthew 7:7–11 – click to read online). How do you hear this invitation to ask God for things? What questions or hopes does it raise for you about prayer?
2. In Nehemiah 4:9 it says, “But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night.” What does this combination of prayer and practical action suggest about how trust in God and personal responsibility can work together?
3. We read in 1 Samuel 1:10–18 [click to read online] about Hannah earnestly pouring out her heart to God. What does her story suggest about bringing our real emotions, doubts, or longings to God in prayer – even when we don’t know how things will turn out?
4. Acts 4:29–31 [click to read online] shows a group of believers praying not for comfort or safety, but for courage to live out their faith. When you think about your own prayers, what do you tend to focus on? What might “bold” or outward-focused prayer look like today?
5. As a next step, what is one small action you’d like to take this week related to prayer, such as praying for a specific person, setting aside intentional time, or experimenting with a different way of praying?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being involved in today’s discussion!
